David ~ Director

Born in the Sunshine State but raised in Canberra, I was happy to move to the Sunshine Coast in 1999 and finish my degree in Business at the Sunshine Coast University. After completing my CPA qualification I founded Asset Accounting from home in Currimundi before moving into our current premises in Dicky Beach.

I have been told that I have a knack for explaining accounting and tax issues in a way that the layman can understand; I think that it is just that I take the time to make sure people do understand exactly what is going on. I have a passion for business structuring and Self Managed Super Funds and get the most job satisfaction when a client is reaching their goals in the most efficient way.

Away from work, I like to spend time with my family at the beach or camping. I also sing and play guitar and follow the Canberra Raiders in the NRL.

Rigby ~ Director

I am a CPA qualified accountant with over 20 year experience in providing accounting, management and taxation advice to small and business. I starting my career in one of the big four firms, Coopers and Lybrand as a specialist advisor in there taxation division. These were the days of corporate libraries – there was no internet – and I spent countless hours with my head in "big books" researching case law. At the same time I was also planning an adventure with a rock band called the Aadvarks. Having tasted the success of winning the Queensland Rock Awards I felt sure we were on track to becoming the next INXS. So having spent 4 years with Coopers I moved to Sydney to pursue my rock star ambitions. Sadly I admit the move to Sydney did not launch me to fame and fortune but I did get to tour up and down the east coast with some of great Aussie bands of their time. I returned to Brisbane and commenced work with a smaller city based chartered accounting firm, Steinhardt and Company. To my surprise I found I really enjoyed working within a smaller firm environment and gained invaluable experience in managing the accounting and taxation needs of a wide variety of clients. In particular I enjoyed the one to one client contact. Becoming an integral part of a clients business, I gained job satisfaction from contributing to business growth and success. After having spent 11 years with Steinhardt and Company my wife and I moved to the Sunshine Coast. We had decided the time was right to start a family and thought the coast lifestyle provide the perfect environment to raise a young family.

Lala ~ Practice Manager

I moved to the Sunshine coast 10 years ago from Canberra. I enjoy surfing, scuba diving, kite surfing and just hanging out at the skate ramp. I have 2 daughters who keep me busy and a husband who drives me insane. I'm the happy voice you will hear on the phone when you call Asset Accounting and I also look after all the ASIC corporate affairs.

Kayla ~ Senior Accountant

I completed my Bachelor of Commerce, with a double major in accounting and financial planning, at the University of the Sunshine Coast in 2014. Upon graduation I was awarded with the Faculty Medal of Business for my high level of achievement in the School of Business. I started working at Asset Accounting while completing my final year of study.

At home (and on my lunch breaks) I can often be found reading and especially enjoy fantasy adventure stories. I also enjoy gaming, and have even been to the OPL finals in Melbourne for LoL with my partner and friends, and in true e-girl spirit you can usually see me with bold hair colours. I love cooking and baking – I'm the go to in the family for birthday cakes. I adore my two miniature dachshunds and love watching them play and run around in the backyard.

Alex ~ Senior Accountant

I completed my Bachelor of Commerce at Deakin University in 2016, securing a roll in a small firm in country Victoria offering accounting, taxation and business advisory to the local community across a broad range of industries and business structures. My partner and I then moved to the Sunshine Coast to be closer to her family in Hervey Bay, soon after I joined the Asset Accounting team in March 2020.

Since moving to the sunshine state I'm mostly found at the beach at weekends with a good book or out travelling with a camera in hand, honing my black and white photography skills. I've also been an avid field hockey player since the age of 10, having played in and won 3 premierships over my career (not that I had much personal impact in any of the finals!). I've also held general committee roles in each of the clubs I've played for and represented Sale Hockey Club at the East Gippsland Hockey Association.

Laura ~ Accountant

I have lived on the Sunshine Coast since 1983 and have raised two beautiful daughters here. I have completed a Cert IV in Financial Services(Accounting) and I am currently studying a Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting) at the University of the Sunshine Coast. My two dogs and two cats are great study buddies, but they never really contribute when working on assignments. In my spare time I enjoy catching up with family and friends especially to enjoy a meal together or to see a movie.
